Unity is a full disk set which is exactly the same as System 7.5.3. The product, as installed on a machine, should be the same as the product installed by using System 7.5, 7.5.1, or 7.5.2 plus System 7.5 Update 2.0.
The only changes in this release are:
• We combined all the installer tomes so that we have a full disk set
• We changed the installer scripts so that this is a universal full disk set
• We changed the resource containing the version in the "About this Macintosh" and the vers 2 resources so everything indicates this is System 7.5.3.
That's it. There are no code changes in this release.
The CD-ROM full disk set will contain other software, in the "CD Extras" folder. This additional folder will have some software with updates or changes, such as OpenDoc. These "CD Extras" pieces are not being seeded as part of this network seed.
Why, then, are we seeding this product if there are no bug fixes or code changes? We are seeding this product so that you can test the installer process against your particular configuration, and so that you can help Apple discover any installer bugs which may exist.
If you encounter a bug in the operation of your system after installed Unity, it should be the _exact same_ bugs as would be found in System 7.5 Update 2.0. We aren't changing any code. If you find any bugs in the operation of your system, you are welcome to report them, but they will not be fixed until the next system update.
If you encounter a bug during the installation process, we would appreciate being informed about this immediately. Thanks.
